Understanding The Mind of the Spirit

In this PM service, Pastor Alan explores the difference between the inward man and the outward man. He says the inward man is born again and made alive in righteousness, while the outward man remains carnal and must be resisted. He uses Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 4 to describe the inward man being renewed day by day. He teaches that the carnal mind holds memories, reactions, and strongholds shaped by past experiences. These inner patterns can affect relationships, finances, fear, and other areas of life. He explains that many people live from this outward library without realizing the inward man has also been given a new nature and a new mind. A major emphasis is praying in tongues. Pastor Alan says this is how the Holy Spirit teaches and builds up the inward man, like feeding a newborn baby. He compares it to a classroom where the Holy Spirit writes knowledge into the spiritual mind little by little until understanding comes. He also explains fasting and obedience as ways of saying the body is not in charge. He says strongholds can feel safe because they have protected people in the past, but the Holy Spirit leads believers to face them one by one. He describes this process as difficult but necessary for transformation. He closes by reading from 2 Corinthians 5 and 1 Corinthians 9, saying believers are called to discipline the body and live by faith, not sight. He encourages the congregation to rely on the Holy Spirit, stay in prayer, and let the inward man grow until it overcomes the outward man.
