In this message, Pastor Alan teaches on the walk of the Spirit and the call to seek God more deeply. He begins by honoring the graduates in the congregation and then turns to the main theme: Christianity is more than attending church and doing good works. He says the believer’s life belongs to God and is meant to be lived under God’s direction, not merely added to a personal life. He contrasts a carnal view of Christianity with a spiritual one, using examples from music, wealth, and politics to show how the world often values talent, success, and comfort. He says the gospel is not about prosperity, influence, or winning in worldly systems. Instead, he teaches that the Christian life is found in obedience to God’s will, even when that path is difficult. A major focus is the difference between the outward man and the inner man. Pastor Alan explains that when a person is born again, the old life dies and a new life begins in Christ. He points to Galatians 2:20 and Ephesians 5:14, emphasizing that the believer should live as someone raised from death to life. He says the Holy Spirit helps strengthen the inner man through praying in tongues. He also uses Jesus in Gethsemane from Matthew 26:36-39 to show the struggle of submitting to the Father’s will. Pastor Alan says this is the model for believers: “not my will, but your will be done.” He closes by encouraging listeners to face hard things, trust God’s leading, and rely on the Holy Spirit rather than their own willpower.
