In this message, Pastor Alan teaches on the will of God and the call to live by obedience rather than self-directed ambition. He begins by describing the church as a family that should both receive from God and strengthen one another. He says the Christian life is not only about getting blessing, but also about giving and receiving within the body. He contrasts the inner man, which wants God’s will, with the outward man, which resists it. He says carnal Christianity treats God like a distant deity that must be appeased, but true Christianity is learning to live from the new life God has placed within. He emphasizes that the will of God is not our own will. Pastor Alan uses the example of children staying in a backyard to explain how God gives boundaries and freedom within them. He teaches that believers should not constantly demand a word for every small decision, but should learn to live under God’s direction. He warns against turning Scripture into a tool for personal ambition. He reads from 1 Corinthians 10 and says Israel’s journey under the cloud is an example of following God without negotiation. He explains that the Christian life includes discipline, surrender, and the willingness to let go of what feels safe. He also says praying in tongues helps believers yield to the perfect will of God. He closes by saying the cup of blessing includes both God’s provision and the surrender of one’s life to Christ. He encourages listeners to trust the Father, obey His leading, and accept that their lives belong to Him.
