Let the Light of the New Nature Take Over Your Life
About
A profound difference exists between merely following Christian standards and completely surrendering daily life to God's will. True Christian faith requires dying to personal desires and placing absolute trust in the Heavenly Father. Looking to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane reveals the ultimate model of laying down one's own will to embrace God's plan.
Spiritual transformation begins from the inside out through a genuine relationship rather than endless religious activity. In this sermon, Alan talks about how real wealth belongs to God, sharing a story about a potato farmer to show that obedience matters more than large donations. He explains that traditional church life often focuses on busyness, whereas God calls believers to concentrate on building up people.
Alan reads from Ephesians 4 to show how Christians must actively put off the old nature and put on the new man. Spiritual rebirth is a free gift received when a person gets the nature of Christ, rather than something earned through human effort. True salvation requires humility and repentance, which God answers by giving supernatural faith. While righteousness comes entirely from Christ's nature within, believers are called to intentionally grow in holiness through prayer, worship, Bible study, and fasting. Trying to act like Jesus through willpower alone leads to failure, so God provides the Holy Spirit as a helper to overcome sin. Grieving the Spirit simply means ignoring His guidance to live independently, but praying in tongues builds up the inner man, needed for lasting transformation.
